30-10-2020   BEng:  Badminton England announces restructure

29-10-2020   BEng: The following events are being organised:

21-22 November 2020, Under 17 Nationals – Postponed to 2021
5-6 December 2020, Under 19 Nationals – Postponed to 2021
10-12 December 2020, Euro Mixed Team Qualifier
Badminton England is intending to stage the Euro Mixed Team event at the National Badminton Centre, Milton Keynes. BE is working on putting in place Covid-19 secure measures for the event. It is also working on the number of officials they can have so as to enable a safe environment for all. Final decisions will be made by the end of next week. We will keep you updated on this website.

24-10-2020   Sad News – Mark Allen

You may be aware that Mark Allen was recently diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer. Sadly, we have heard today that Mark passed away earlier this week.
Mark joined the BUAofE in May 1984 and, after progressing through the grades, was awarded International Umpire grade in November 2008 .
He was awarded BEC Accredited Umpire status in April 2009, and retired from this role at the end of 2012.
Mark took on the role of South Region Secretary in 2017, and in July 2018 was elected as Chairman of the BUAofE. In addition to this, Mark was also a Regional and National Assessor.
I know that many of your members will have known Mark from his attendance at events.

We are pleased to announce that Himanshu Anil Shah and Ian Johnstone have been selected by BWF to serve on the BWF ITO Panel for the period 2021-2024. They will be available for selection for BWF major events such as the World Championships, World Junior Championships, Sudirman Cup, Thomas and Uber Cups, and major multi-sport events like the Olympic Games. Our congratulations to Himanshu and Ian. They join our two current BWF ITO line judges Andy Baxter and Bernardino Lorenzo.

30-03-2020   BJLAE: English Line Judges Upgraded

The Assessment and Grading sub Committee are pleased to announce that during assessments carried out at the AE 2020 the following candidates were selected for upgrade from LJ to NLJ  Edgar Ebue , Kevin O’Brien, Keith Tovey  & Simon Ewins. Well done and thank you for your time and dedication you have input into the association.

Commonwealth Games 2022

The next edition of the Commonwealth Games will take place in Birmingham between 27 July and 7 August 2022.
Badminton will be one of the featured sports and more details about the application and selection process for line judges will follow.
If you are interested please bear in mind you maybe required to attend two or three days before the event for accreditation, uniform and orientation purposes.
