2026 BE AGM Summary

Dear Members,

Suzanne and I represented our association at the BE AGM in June, here are is a copy of the summary provided by Victoria at BE:

It was great to see so many of you at our AGM and to provide an update on our A Sport That Cares campaign.

To summarise and for those not in attendance, after first launching A Sport that Cares in April 2025, we are now progressing towards all clubs being required to have trained welfare officer in place for September 2026 affiliation.

Thank you for your support so far, and we encourage you to continue championing the campaign within your local badminton communities.

Some key highlights include:

  • Almost 1,000 volunteers have attended a Club Welfare Officer workshop in the last 18 months.
  • 795 clubs are now fully compliant (57.2%).
  • Several clubs have appointed more than one Club Welfare Officer.
  • Workshop feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly around the support available from Badminton England.
  • Increased awareness has led to earlier reporting of safeguarding, welfare and wellbeing concerns, enabling more timely support for clubs and members.
  • Several counties are now close to achieving full compliance, and we look forward to recognising this progress in the coming months.

If you would like to discuss the campaign, understand progress within your county, register your County Welfare Officer for training, or learn more about club engagement, please contact myself or Julie Pike, Lead Programme Manager (juliepike@badmintonengland.co.uk).

Thank you for your continued commitment to making badminton a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all.

Kind regards,
Victoria
