Commonwealth Games – Birmingham 2022 – Further update for information only
I hope this email finds you well. Further to the email you received from me at the end of March, I’m pleased to say that we have now received information from B2022 which will shortly allow us to ask for expressions of interest. Kate, Suzanne and I are working through what we have received and seeking clarification on certain points. As such, we wanted to give you a brief update now and let you know that we plan to ask for formal expressions of interest in early to mid June. We will do this via the BLJAE website, where we will also post further updates as appropriate.
Hopefully you’ve all been thinking about this event and considering whether you can be available (hopefully you can!). A couple of additional pieces of information to share which may help you:
- There is no upper age restriction for applications.
- The competition dates are 29 July to 8 August, however, we will all need to arrive on 26 July, to allow time for uniform collection, orientation and other pre-tournament tasks.
- We have no information at all about any COVID restrictions – which is unsurprising given we are looking more than a year into the future – if there are to be any restrictions, I don’t expect we will know what these will be until sometime in 2022.
Best wishes and keep an eye on the website in early to mid June when full information will be provided and you will be able to submit expressions of interest.
Vicky

Good news
Thanks for the info Vicky. Chris steeden.
Hi Vicky. Got an email from badminton england asking for volunteers for this. Should I complete or wait to hear from you specifically about line judges?
Best wishes
Craig
Dear Craig,
Please ignore this, it isn’t a line judge expression of interest request, that will come shortly but will be directly from our association.
Regards
Vicky
