New Event: All England 2022 – Expression of Interest
Dear Members and Life Members,
I am writing to invite expressions of interest in line judging at the All England Badminton Championships 2022. Presently, the plan is to stage the All England with fans, though we must be aware that we are currently in an exceptional time and nothing can be guaranteed.
Note: Unfortunately this invitation doesn’t apply to associate members.
If you wish to attend please complete your details below to show your availability by 5pm on 22nd October 2021.
Please note that although we do our best to accommodate everyone who would like to line judge at this event, we cannot guarantee that everyone will either be invited or get exactly what they want. We have more members in the association than we can select and, therefore, always have more people wishing to attend than available places, but we have to comply with the maximum number of line judges stipulated by Badminton England.
The competition will run from Wednesday 16th March to Sunday 20th March 2022, with Friday and Saturday being split into sessions. Therefore, please read the information below.
In making our selections we try to strike a balance by normally offering either Wednesday & Thursday for newer members of the required standard or those who volunteer for limited days, or the whole week for those able to offer their time for all five days. There will be few exceptions to this principle. It is important when expressing interest in line judging on a particular day that you are available for the whole day or session from the briefing onwards.
In addition, through their National Associations, we will be offering a very limited number of places to overseas line judges within Europe. This is to ensure that we get reciprocal invitations for overseas events which are so popular with our members.
The management team will endeavour to ensure that over time a fair spread of invitations is extended to people taking into account whether they have received an invitation in previous years. This is our most popular event, and it is very difficult to satisfy the demand for places. We hope that those who are not selected this year will understand why and will continue to apply for succeeding years. We understand that those not selected will be disappointed but hope they will recognise that selecting and managing line judges for the All England is a difficult task which we are trying to do to the best of our ability.
Regards
